ACRYLIGHT
Acrylight was designed to form an illusion of light being contained within a tangible boundary.
With the help of an acrylic glass and illumination from the bottom, the light creates its own geometric shape around the transparency of the glass.
Dimension: 9 in x 9 in x 9.5 in
Materials:
Acrylic glass
Douglas fir wood
LED light
Leather
Aluminum
Magnets

INSPIRATIONS
While I’m designing I often look to the nature for inspirations. Likewise for this project I was really fascinated by the bioluminescence quality of deep-sea creatures like the Aequorea and Ctenophora jelly fish (picture below). Bioluminescence is the biochemical emission of light by living organisms. What attracted me further to them was their completely transparent delicate body that is only visible by the light they produce.
Another inspiration came from the solar eclipse’s ‘ring of fire’. Witnessing this phenomena is just out of this world.
